Cancellation policy+

Cancellation Policy:

Notes:

  • The cancellation policy is different for RTA and non-RTA sites.

  • All of the ECU RTA sites will transition to non-RTA sites in 2025.

Eligible Reasons for Cancellation:

  • If you are an international student and do not obtain your Visa, you may cancel your resident agreement within 5 days of receiving notification from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). You are only eligible for this exemption if you cancel more than 14 days prior to your start date.

  • University acceptance issues (Domestic First-Year Students): If you are a domestic first-year student applying through UAC, VTAC, QTAC, or TISC and are not accepted at your intended university or are accepted at a different university, you may cancel your booking within 5 days of the main round offer release date (generally in late January).

Supporting Documentation:

Official supporting evidence is required to be sent, including:

  • Visa refusal notice from DIBP.

  • Notification from UAC, VTAC, QTAC, TISC, or the university indicating non-acceptance or acceptance at an alternative university.

RTA Sites Cancellation Policy:

  • If you cancel your booking 14 days prior to the start date of your contract, a one-time fee equivalent to two-week rent will be deducted from your bond payment, and the bond will be refunded to the account or credit card you provided for rental payments.

  • Cancellations made within the 14-day window to the start date or during the lease period will incur a two-week fee and an ongoing liability to find a replacement for your room.

Non-RTA Sites:

  • Murdoch University Village

  • Student Village North Ryde

  • Sydney University Village

  • UNSW Village

  • WSU Parramatta Village

Non-RTA Sites Cancellation Policy:

  • Similar to RTA sites, if you cancel your booking 14 days prior to the start date, a two-week cancellation fee will be deducted from your security deposit, and the deposit will be refunded to the account or credit card you provided.

  • Cancellations made within the 14-day window or during the lease period will incur a two-week fee and an ongoing liability to find a replacement for your room.

Exceptions Where Free Cancellation Policy Does Not Apply:

  • The policy does not apply if you defer or withdraw from studies after accepting a university offer or if you change your mind about your accommodation choice.
